BigRoad Gets Trucker Love Plans for Spring Launch of iPhone/iPad Edition

KITCHENER, ON | MARCH 20, 2013

Transportation app creator BigRoad announced today its smart phone app for truckers and fleets has reached 47,000 downloads, and with a ranking of 4.75 stars out of 5 has become the top rated trucking app and top electronic log app for the Android platform. The BigRoad team will be showcasing its popular app within its booth and at the NASTC’s booth at the 2013 Mid-America Trucking Show taking place March 21-23, 2013 at the Kentucky Exposition Centre in Louisville KY.

BigRoad also announced today it plans to make its popular app available on the iPhone and iPad this Spring.

Launched to market in July 2012, BigRoad’s app is now used by truckers and small fleets in literally every US state and every Canadian province. The app is specifically designed with truck drivers and small fleet owners in mind; aimed at greatly improving life on the road. It replaces time consuming and error prone paper logbooks required for roadside inspection by authorities such as the Department of Transport (DOT) with a free and easy to use smart phone based electronic logging system that improves driver record accuracy and saves fleets money. Additional features include in-app messaging, real-time GPS-based navigation and traffic monitoring, and the ability to exchange photos and document records for payroll, POD and vehicle/load damage.

“In just a year, we have reached nearly 50,000 downloads of the app by drivers who represent more than 200 million cubic feet of capacity. We also have more than 1,000 fleets using the system. This represents massive trucker love for our simple, intuitive and highly useful app,” says BigRoad CEO Kelly Frey. “With the threat of EOBR compliance looming, drivers and small fleet owners are turning their backs on expensive, complicated big hardware solutions, to embrace BigRoad’s cost effective, smart phone based solution. Beyond its simplicity, BigRoad drives huge benefit for drivers and commercial carriers, helping reduce the number of form and manner errors that can chip away at a carrier’s CSA rating.”

“Originally our drivers were apprehensive about converting to electronic logs for HOS compliance. But they quickly embraced the change. We now have BigRoad on tablets in every one of our 28 trucks and our drivers simply love the app. I would highly recommend it to a small fleet looking to move off paper”, says Dawn Collier, operations manager, TJ Stidham Transportation, Plant City, FLA.

Pricing

BigRoad’s app for Android is available free for download directly from Google Play using the following link: http://bit.ly/GPlayStore. An iPhone version of the driver app is expected later this year.

The BigRoad Fleet management solution is just $15 per month per vehicle and a fleet can be up and running in literally minutes. A free trial of the fleet version can be found here: https://app.bigroad.com/sign-up.
